Welcome to Earth Hot Spot.

This blog is for anyone fascinated in exploring the Earth. I have always been intrigued by anything that can blow up – the extremes of nature. That’s precisely what a volcano does, often triggering other natural disasters in its wake.

The Earth is a dangerous beauty, from the threat of volcanoes and earthquakes to the delights of hot springs and geothermal energy. This blog will explore how we are managing these resources with particular reference to education. With a new focus on Earth and Space Science as a subject in New Zealand, I’ve explored varied resources and ideas to embrace.  I will write this blog primarily from an educator’s perspective and in memory of all those who have experienced the fear and tragedy of natural disasters.
